Tomato Masters
Tomato Masters is a family-owned business that has been growing tomatoes with passion and expertise since 1966. Founded by Julien Vlaemynck, the company has since become a well-known name in the industry. In 1983, the family switched to hydroponics, which significantly improved both the yield and the sustainability of their cultivation. Today, the company operates 21 hectares of greenhouses in Deinze and is part of the Tomeco Group, led by Mathias Demuyt and Tom Vlaemynck.
Vitapower
In 2023, Hortipower’s success expanded with the acquisition of a neighboring horticultural company, which was renamed Vitapower. The new company was revitalized and immediately began growing tomatoes according to the same principles of innovation and sustainability that characterize Hortipower. Vitapower quickly proved to be a success, with the company becoming increasingly integrated into the operations of both Hortipower and Tomeco.
Hortipower
Hortipower was founded in 2006 by John Vermeiren, Dirk Van den Plas, and Tom Lefevre, who shared a passion for innovation and sustainable horticulture. John and Dirk, both from horticultural families, decided together with their wives, Karine and Lia, to make the move into tomato cultivation. As early as 1998, John and Dirk had worked together to establish Intergrow, a horticultural operation in the U.S. This marked the start of their joint venture, which ultimately led to the founding of Hortipower.

What began with a young John Vermeiren, who inherited his passion for tomatoes from his parents, grew into a strong family legacy comprising three forward-thinking companies. In 1988, he and his wife Lia founded VW Tuinderijen in Loenhout. What started as 7,000 m² of greenhouses has grown into a modern, innovative cultivation site spanning more than 8 hectares. From the very beginning, the focus has been on quality, innovation, and a deep respect for the craft.
