VW Tuinderijen, VW Maxburg, and Meer Fresh Products

With the introduction of Roma tomatoes in Belgium and investments in CO₂-neutral wood-fired boilers, combined heat and power generation, and supplemental lighting, VW Tuinderijen has always been at the forefront. In 2016, a new chapter began: VW Maxburg, a 10-hectare greenhouse complex in Meer, fully equipped to grow delicious tomatoes year-round. Shortly thereafter, Meer Fresh Products followed, where crops are grown on more than 13 hectares, both with and without supplemental lighting.

What makes this story even more inspiring? The next generation is already firmly established in the business. Son Mitch heads up VW Maxburg, daughter Lynn is taking cultivation quality to new heights as site manager, and son-in-law Dries brings his expertise as a cultivation manager at Meer Fresh Products to the table. Each of them shares the same passion and love for the product.

Innovation remains a central theme: with floating solar panels, electric water heaters, LED lighting, and advanced automation, we work every day to make our cultivation practices more sustainable and efficient. We also place a strong emphasis on workplace ergonomics, because taking good care of your people is just as important as taking good care of your plants.

Their tomato tip? A Sweetest Queen tomato, roasted in the oven with a little olive oil, garlic, and a pinch of sea salt; simple, robust, and full of flavor.

VW’s strength lies in their sense of family, their drive for innovation, and their belief in collaboration. Together with Tomeco, they are committed every day to the future of sustainable tomato farming, where knowledge is shared, quality is paramount, and taste comes first.
